Job Description And Responsibilities

Team Summary

The Credit Settlement Risk (CSR) team is part of the Risk function and acts as a 2nd Line of Defence. CSR is responsible for protecting Visa and its shareholders from financial loss and goodwill damage because of a member’s failure to fulfil its settlement obligations. In line with Visa’s growth strategy requiring a balanced and sustainable approach to risk / reward, credit & settlement risk is one of the significant risks that Visa Asia Pacific undertakes.

What a Director, Credit Risk Management does at Visa :

  • The role requires to be a strategic leader, supporting the head of function in setting and delivering the strategic direction and goals on collateral management, managing key stakeholder relationships. In addition, the role requires to be a subject matter expert in leading new collateral initiatives for clients in Asia Pacific and work with the credit analysts to appropriate mitigating measures to manage the credit risks.
  • The role requires strong leadership, influencing and stakeholder management skills. Key to the role will be a proactive forward-looking approach to enhancing the Credit & Settlement risk capabilities to support business growth strategy whilst balancing an appropriate risk / reward outcome. There will be a strong emphasis on the use data and analytical capabilities to improve processes, become more effective and provide better insights to actively make better risk management decisions.
  • The ability to take a portfolio approach to managing and understanding of the Asia Pacific client base as well as a good understanding of the CSR framework and systems.
  • The role will require to lead and maintaining a strong relationship and partnering with Global Credit & Settlement function, complying with the Global Risk policy and procedures, supporting, active participation and as appropriate influencing global projects to support Visa Asia Pacific.
  • The Director will report directly to the Senior Director, Asia Pacific Credit Settlement Risk.

Why this is important to Visa

As a Director in the AP Region, the incumbent is responsible for leading and managing the strategic CSR projects and coordinating the relationship with Global CSR Center of Excellence ensuring that AP CSR is aligned to the Global framework and risk appetite.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership / site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

  • A highly motivated individual that takes ownership of the projects assigned and manage the collateral portfolio independently, including supporting the head of function on reports to EC and Global.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including influencing and stakeholder management. Proven ability to build credible-long term effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Ability to synthesize information and make concise recommendations.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Led / Coordinate the CSR data analytics / systems and reporting objectives.
  • Supports regulatory and Internal Audit requirements.

  • Consults, as appropriate, on key collateral challenges and initiatives.
