Roles & Responsibilities

Job Description

  • Leverage on the company and the candidate's network in Japan to source and identify value added opportunities for the portfolio companies which are managed by the company
  • To act as the company's liaison officer for Japanese corporate accounts and to upkeep good business relations with Japanese counterparts
  • Research on and identify potential strategic angles to value-add to the fund’s investments in mid-cap companies in Southeast Asia by tapping on strategic partner corporations in Japan

Support end-to-end deal process :

  • Assist in deal evaluation and investment decision-making; and
  • Assist in deal execution, particularly involving Japanese stakeholders
  • Monitor and analyse industry market trends and private equity growth strategies
  • Coordinate quarterly portfolio company updates and respond to ad-hoc enquiries from existing and potential Japanese investors
  • Support fund administration and operation including but not limited to :

  • Preparation and dissemination of capital call / distribution notice
  • Preparation of fund report
  • Setting up / maintenance of SPC for investment holding
  • Maintenance of fund tax incentives
  • Support proper implementation and ongoing maintenance of regulatory compliance and ESG requirement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop proposals and / or reports to address investors’ needs
  • Assist in any ad-hoc task or project as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a leading university
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience with top-tier companies or financial institutions in private equity, private debt, corporate banking, financial advisory and / or investment advisory.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Role requires frequent regional travel
  • Demonstrable strong network and deep industry connections in Japan
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Familiar with the use of electronic financial data services (e.g. Bloomberg, CapitalIQ)
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Japanese (equivalent to JLPT N1) is essential as the role will involve extensive interaction with Japanese stakeholders and companies.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
