Job descriptionMinimum of 2 years of insurance experience, with strong preference for Marine Cargo underwriting expertise. Exceptional attention to detail, coupled with strong analytical and problem solving abilities. Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong focus on customer service. Strong communication skills, including negotiation, communications and presentation experience. University graduates, preferably in insurance or related field. Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Marine Underwriter to join our Asia Marine team. In this role, you will have the chance to develop and expand a diverse Marine book of business, including Marine Cargo, STP, Project Cargo, Marine Liability, Subsea and Inland Marine. You will work closely with our team to establish and maintain strong broker and customer relationships, drive profitable growth, and contribute to the long-term success of our Marine portfolio.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with the team to grow and build the Marine book of business across various products, including Marine Cargo, STP, Project Cargo, Marine Liability, Subsea, and Inland Marine.
- Establish, develop and enhance broker and customer relationships independently and collaboratively with other BHSI product lines.
- Prequalify and assess new business opportunities to ensure alignment with BHSI underwriting principles and profitability targets.
- Maintain and manage a profitable book of business by making sound underwriting decisions in line with BHSI principles and guidelines.
- Apply your growing underwriting knowledge to assist in making informed and strategic decisions to align with our goals and risk appetite.
