The PCL Department invites qualified candidates who share our mission to apply for the Lecturer position in Educational Leadership . This position requires a sound understanding of educational leadership and encompasses a dynamic range of responsibilities that extend beyond traditional management of educational institutions. It involves fostering organisational development, enhancing leadership to improve teaching and learning, creating positive learning environments, and supporting professional development. Additionally, ethical leadership is essential for navigating the complexities of today’s educational landscape.

Requirements

  • A PhD or EdD related to Educational Leadership or associated field at the time of application. (Applicants who are nearing completion of their doctoral studies will be considered but the degree must be in hand for the appointment);
  • Demonstration of excellence in teaching and positive impact on student learning across levels or contexts;
  • Experience in research, presentations, and / or publications in the area of Educational Leadership or associated field is preferred;
  • Commitment to and aptitude for teaching across various programmes (e.g., undergraduate, graduate, pre- / in-service training);
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and technology skills, combined with a commitment to collegiality, teaching excellence, and academic research to improve practice; and
  • Familiarity with the Singapore education system as with experience in supervisory roles would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to :

  • Contribute to teaching and course development at the pre-service, in-service, undergraduate, and graduate levels within teacher preparation, graduate and / or professional development programmes;
  • Provide individualised supervision to student teachers during their teaching practice, including classroom observations and feedback;
  • Guide and supervise higher degree students in designing, conducting, and completing their research studies or projects;
  • Engage in research to strengthen practice and impact as well as communicate the findings through various channels, e.g., reputable publications, conference presentations, seminars;
  • Develop and maintain strong professional networks with local and international researchers and / or practitioners in educational leadership or associated field; and
  • Undertake administrative and / or leadership roles and contribute to service-related activities at the department or institution level.

  • A Curriculum Vitae that includes work experience, qualifications, teaching / supervision experience, research accomplishments, full publication list (in APA format), and service records;
  • A statement of research interests (maximum 2 pages);
  • A statement of teaching philosophy and experience, evidence of teaching excellence, and student feedback on teaching (maximum 2 pages);
  • Two sample publications; and
  • Names, addresses, and email addresses of at least three academic referees.
  • Shortlisted candidates will initially participate in an online interview. Those selected for the next stage will be invited to visit the NIE campus. During this visit, they will be required to deliver a job talk outlining their research and teaching interests, and to conduct a sample lesson in their area of expertise for our students in NIE.
