Job description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities :

  • Act as the highest level of technical escalation for PostgreSQL / Sybase issues.
  • Manage incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Lead and delegate technical tasks across the team; promote knowledge sharing.
  • Own fault investigation, resolution, and user issue escalations.
  • Perform deployments, upgrades, and DR / HA configuration of database systems.
  • Participate in infrastructure events (e.g., Power Down, DR Tests).
  • Drive root cause analysis for high-severity incidents.
  • Maintain compliance with IT standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure documentation is current, clear, and usable.
  • Lead automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements :

  • 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and Sybase in production environments.
  • Bachelor's / Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in enterprise-level environments; financial services is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of IT security practices and ITIL processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.

    • Technical Skills :

  • Proficiency in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting PostgreSQL / Sybase databases.
  • Experience with HA / DR strategies and implementations.
  • Scripting knowledge (Python, T-SQL, Shell) is desirable.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) is a plus.

    • Certifications (Preferred) :

  • PostgreSQL and / or Sybase DBA Certification
  • Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
