Roles & Responsibilities
We are a leading multi-family office based in Singapore. We are looking for a Singapore or Common law trained legal professional with 3-8 years of experience. This role would have responsibility over legal and advisory for Ultra-high Net worth (UHNW) families on various aspects of their wealth and business succession planning and on asset protection. The role would in addition, advise on legal and tax issues that emanate from private wealth planning. The candidate should have a degree in law from a law school and should have a thorough understanding of the general principles of law, specifically relating to trust law and corporate law. The role will also handle the compliance and risk control matters of the company. You are expected to learn quickly, think on your feet and act independently and proactively to find solutions or give tangible solutions to clients and internally.
Scope of work :
- In charge of legal matters relating to family office setup and maintenance for clients, especially liaising internally and externally to prepare required documents and submit to MAS and follow-up to tackle issues
- Follow up with MAS on client status and address annual compliance requirements for clients
- Advise on legal matters relating to company's fund management & investment activities
- Draft and vetting of various inhouse and external legal documents
- Work with external advisors (e.g. tax consultants) to provide overall advice to UHNWI clients on legal & tax structuring (e.g. setting up trust, inheritance, family business structure etc), also advise clients on their own legal matters (if applicable)
- Assist in dealing with MAS on CMS licensing compliance & reporting requirements
- Oversee risk compliance for client onboarding and continued monitoring (e.g. Source of Wealth / Source of Fund, AML / KYC)
- Legal Due Diligence and structuring (for direct investment transactions or investment into other funds) (if applicable)
Requirements :
Bachelor of Laws from a law schoolSingapore or Common law trained legal professionals with 3-8 years of experienceAdmission to practice in a common law jurisdiction or in the PRC will be desirable but not necessaryHigh integrity, high standard, meticulous, strong commercial sense and communication skillsThorough understanding of the general principles of law, specifically relating to trust law and corporate lawAble to communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that non-legal colleagues can understandAble to balance the roles of business partner and control functionExperience in dealing with investment or UHNW clients a plusProficient in bilingual both in Mandarin and English, especially for smooth communication with Mandarin-speaking clientsTell employers what skills you have
