The Wushu Instructor is responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating structured Wushu training sessions for students, in alignment with the school's CCA framework and MOE's desired student outcomes. The instructor shall design and deliver a progressive and developmentally appropriate training programme that caters to students of varying skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and promotes discipline, resilience, teamwork, and national values through the practice of Wushu.
Key Roles and Responsibilities :
Develop a comprehensive, progressive, and developmentally appropriate Wushu training plan in consultation with the Teacher-in-Charge.
Incorporate elements of traditional and modern Wushu, including Taolu (forms) and Sanda (sparring), as appropriate to the school's context.
Integrate character development, school values, and Social-Emotional Competencies (SECs) into training activities.
Align the programme to MOE's CCA Learning Outcomes and relevant national competitions such as the National School Games (Wushu) .
Conduct regular CCA sessions that focus on skill acquisition, technique refinement, performance preparation, and teamwork.
Teach proper stances, kicks, strikes, jumps, weapon techniques, and choreographed routines safely and progressively.
Ensure all training sessions are conducted with proper warm-ups, cool-downs, and safety practices.
Provide individual and group feedback to enhance students' mastery and confidence.
Train and prepare students for internal and external performances, including Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) , National Wushu Championships , and school events.
Manage choreography, music selection, costume coordination, and rehearsal planning.
Guide students in goal setting, self-management, and performance etiquette.
Develop assessment rubrics for evaluating student performance based on skills, attitude, and behaviour.
Provide progress reports and feedback to the Teacher-in-Charge at agreed intervals.
Assist in the selection and evaluation of students for competitions and leadership positions within the CCA.
Ensure a safe training environment following MOE and school safety guidelines.
Report any injuries, incidents, or safety concerns immediately.
Uphold professionalism and adhere to school policies and regulations at all times.
