Objective
To provide technical support for customers, manage service installations, commissioning, and maintenance of satellite communication (SATCOM) and navigation systems (NAVCOM), ensuring reliable operations in the maritime industry.
Description
The Technical Service Engineer (NAVCOM / SAT Specialist) is responsible for addressing customer-reported issues, troubleshooting and repairing marine navigation and communication systems, and commissioning satellite communication services, including geostationary and low Earth orbit connectivity. This role also includes managing service records, coordinating with service partners for activations and deactivations, and assisting in warehouse and logistics functions as needed. The engineer will work both onboard vessels and at shipyards, requiring strong technical expertise, hands-on field service skills, and the ability to work independently under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist the Technical Manager with tasks related to NAVCOM systems, IT / OT network security, and RF design, installation, and maintenance.
2. Support field service activities by helping with on-site troubleshooting, installation, and preventive maintenance of marine electronics (navigation, radar, communication, and control systems).
3. Assist in commissioning marine systems under supervision to ensure correct setup and operation.
4. Help manage customer service requests and maintain records in CRM tools.
5. Provide basic support in infrastructure delivery for Core Network (LAN / WAN), and RF hub equipment.
6. Coordinate administrative aspects of port operations, including vessel entry permits, crew clearance, and service scheduling across Asian ports (with emphasis on Singapore).
7. Support the Network Operations Centre with monitoring tasks and escalate issues affecting Ground Stations (GS), Gateways (GW), and customer systems.
8. Assist in ad-hoc technical projects, including vendor coordination for equipment upgrades and maintenance.
9. Participate in testing activities and share feedback to improve reliability and efficiency.
10. Help maintain configuration / database backups and keep technical documentation up to date.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Marine, or related fields).
2. At least 2–3 years of experience in the maritime industry, shipyards, or satellite / telecom sector.
3. Proven background in NAVCOM systems, including marine navigation, radar, SATCOM, and communication control systems.
4. Hands-on field service engineering experience (installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance).
5. Familiarity with commissioning marine systems.
6. Knowledge of satellite technology, RF signal management, and GS / GW connectivity.
7. Basic networking knowledge (IP routing, switching, dual stack IPv4 / IPv6).
8. Experience with CRM tools for service management is preferred.
9. Regional experience with port operations and regulatory compliance in Asia (especially Singapore).
Additional Advantage
10. OEM training or certifications (e.g., Furuno, JRC, Raytheon) for marine navigation / communication equipment.
11. Familiarity with equipment-specific software, hardware, and maintenance protocols.

13. Excellent command of English other Asian languages advantageous.

Willingness to travel for vessel, port, and ground station support across Asia.
