Overview
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a senior regulatory affairs professional to take a leadership role in shaping the risk policy agenda within a highly regulated financial institution. This position sits at the intersection of risk governance and regulatory engagement, responsible for developing group-wide risk policies while maintaining active dialogue with supervisory authorities and industry stakeholders.
Ideal for a seasoned policy leader with strong experience in financial risk regulation, this role provides the platform to influence institutional practices while contributing to regulatory conversations at the industry level.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, enhancement, and governance of risk policy frameworks across the enterprise, ensuring alignment with internal risk appetite and external regulatory expectations
- Oversee the full policy lifecycle management process, including drafting, review, exception handling, approvals, and ongoing updates
- Interpret evolving regulatory requirements (local and global) and ensure timely integration into internal policies and standards
- Represent the institution in regulatory engagements, supervisory reviews, and industry consultations related to risk frameworks and governance
- Act as a key liaison with financial regulators, industry associations, and policy-making bodies on risk-related matters
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, compliance, risk, and business stakeholders to ensure clarity, enforceability, and alignment of risk policies
- Support the articulation and documentation of the group’s risk appetite and ensure its consistent reinforcement through relevant policies and controls
- Monitor global regulatory and industry developments (e.g., Basel III / IV, MAS notices, FSB guidance) to assess implications for internal frameworks
- Prepare and present policy proposals, updates, and risk posture summaries to senior management, risk committees, and board-level stakeholders
- Advise internal teams on the interpretation and application of regulatory guidance to business operations and risk practices
Qualifications
Essential :
Minimum 10 years of experience in regulatory affairs, risk policy, or financial regulation within a bank, regulatory authority, or global financial institutionStrong knowledge of risk management frameworks (credit, market, liquidity, operational) and applicable regulations (e.g., MAS, Basel, IOSCO, FSB)Proven ability to lead enterprise-wide policy initiatives and regulatory-facing projectsDemonstrated experience interfacing with regulatory bodies and participating in supervisory discussions or industry working groupsExcellent communication skills with the ability to present complex policy matters clearly to both internal and external stakeholdersStrategic mindset with strong analytical, drafting, and project management capabilitiesPreferred :
Advanced degree in Finance, Risk Management, Law, or related fieldProfessional certifications such as FRM, CRM, or equivalentExperience advising on CCP, clearing, or post-trade risks is advantageous but not requiredFamiliarity with the development of risk appetite statements and related KRIs / KPIsApplication Details
