Job Description
- Implement and maintain the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards (e.g., ISM Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, STCW, ISPS, ISO 45001).
- Keep management updated on changes to laws, conventions, and industry requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, classification societies, and port / state authorities during inspections and audits.
- Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and workplace hazard analyses.
- Develop and monitor corrective and preventive action plans.
- Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and incidents; prepare detailed reports and lessons learned.
- Maintain records of safety performance and compliance metrics.
- Conduct and coordinate safety inductions,toolbox talks.
- Compile the annual safety training plan and organize and coordinate monthly safety training.
- Provide training on occupational health and safety procedures, emergency response, and compliance obligations.
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability among staff and crew.
- Ensure readiness for fire, oil spill, pollution, medical, and security emergencies.
- Oversee implementation of emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.
- Monitor compliance with environmental regulations (waste management, emissions control, pollution prevention).
- Participate in company Emergency Response Team as required.
- Prepare vessels / sites for Port State Control, Flag State, ISO, and third-party inspections.
- Prepare and present safety reports, compliance updates, and KPI tracking for management review.
- Organise monthly safety inspection and submit reports.
- Organize special safety inspections and temporary safety inspections, and submit reports.
- Liaise and coordinate with respective government bodies for smooth vessels operations and turnaround in port related matters.
- Ad hoc works assigned by HOD.
Job Requirements
Registered safety officer with MOM.WSQ Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (Level C).Proficient in Chinese communication and writing.3–5 years in maritime, offshore, industrial, or heavy engineering safety management.Familiarity with international safety conventions and industrial standards.Strong knowledge of safety and compliance regulations.Excellent communication, reporting, and training facilitation.Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.Key Competencies : Proactive and safety-driven mindset.Attention to detail and ability to handle regulatory documentation.Effective crisis management and decision-making under pressure.Team player with strong interpersonal skills.Tell employers what skills you have
