Research Fellow (Synthetic Organic Chemistry)

Roles & Responsibilities

School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) is a newly established interdisciplinary joint school under College of Engineering and College of Science at NTU Singapore. The Chiba group in CCEB is pursing development of new synthetic routes that allows for efficient synthesis of biologically active complex organic molecules of pharmaceutical interests.

The Chiba group in CCEB is pursing development of new sustainable molecular transformations driven by single-electron-transfer. The candidates should possess PhD in synthetic organic chemistry with more than 5 years experience in the relevant areas as graduate and / or postdoctoral fellow level in advanced institutions. The candidates should be capable in operating various analytical equipment such as NMR, mass spec, IR, UV-vis, potentiostat, etc. and in handling of air-sensitive materials and transient species in synthetic chemistry.

Key Responsibilities :

• Daily experiments and analyses of the data obtained from them
• To oversee the project team to advance the project
• To submit weekly reports on the experimental results
• To give an oral presentation in group meeting
• To summarize the project as the papers (one paper / year)
• To assist planning and elaboration of the future funding proposals
