COMPANY DESCRIPTION
THK MC was incorporated on 13 October 2011 as a charity to provide multiple social and welfare services to the community at large, and achieved an Institute of Public Character (IPC) status on 18 November 2011.
THK MC is the charitable arm of Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, which lives by the mission – To Serve Mankind – to help anyone who needs help regardless of their race, religion, colour, language, creed and culture.
THK MC today serves more than 70,000 beneficiaries through more than 70 programmes across five Services, which include Disability, Early Intervention for Children, Family, Seniors' Community, and Therapy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Early Intervention for Children (EIC) Services helps equip children with motor, communication, social, self-help and cognitive skills. THK EIC involves structuring classes around small groups encompassing early childhood special education, social work and therapy support services to stimulate their adaptive functioning and school readiness skills.
Class Engagement
Plan, prepare and carry out an effective routine-based intervention programme for the class to meet every child's IEP
Work towards functional outcomes of the child through child engagement, embedding of naturalistic strategies, differentiation of prompts, behavioural intervention techniques
Carry out recommended therapeutic strategies as part of the transdisciplinary team
Prepare age appropriate teaching resources based on children's interest
Maintain a respectful learning environment for the children with the practice of positive discipline by treating all children with dignity and respect and allow for individual differences
Be familiar with and adhere to the programme policies, health and safety regulations and emergency procedures and be ready to implement these if necessary
Working in Teams
Supervise and be responsible for Assistant Teachers and Teacher Aides under their respective grouping
Mentor Assistant Teachers and Teacher Aides in the areas of classroom management, basic teaching strategies, and behavioral intervention techniques
Meeting with Assistant Teachers and Teacher Aides regularly for allocation of roles in the classroom, brainstorming, planning and preparation of activities and resources.
Conduct annual performance appraisals for their Teacher Aides
Participate actively in cluster discussions
Be involved in at least two event planning
Buddy new teachers
Conduct sharing sessions to share the knowledge acquired during external trainings
Management of Processes
Maintain timely submission and updates of all required teachingrelated documentation
Conduct both home and school visits based on needs
Conduct parents-teachers meetings, pre-cases and case conferences
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree or Diploma in a related field i.e. Psychology, Early Childhood, Social Work, Special Needs
Have relevant work experience in teaching children between age 0 - 6 in Early Childhood or Early Intervention settings
