Roles & Responsibilities
Primary Function :
To perform independent inspection for cargo / products. Perform quantity analysis through calculation methods. Monitor the sampling of cargoes in line with international standards and / or in-house procedures. Conduct training of new trainees within the department as assigned by management. Ensure that all terminal / port regulations are followed at all times.
Principal Duties / Responsibilities :
- To follow instruction provided by the Office Administrator or Operations Manager with respect to the job. To review the job file prior to inspection ensuring all instructions are in order. Any doubts should be clarified and resolved with the respective before proceeding with the job.
- Check with port operations, agents and terminals for arrival and berthing status of vessels.
- To be present in the location on time or at least 30 minutes before start of job. Prepare all necessary tools, instruments and documentation needed to perform inspection.
- Supervise loading, unloading, quality & quantity checks and transshipment.
- Monitor and / or carry out proper reference sampling of various cargoes, with assistance of local crew / personnel.
- Reconcile any variance after loading or discharging.
- Record all timings and occurrences during loading or discharging and issue NOAD or LOP to Chief Officer or Terminal.
- Update office Administrator and Operations Manager on the daily activities in the terminal / po including special circumstances and problems encountered during inspection.
- Highlight to terminal and vessel personnel on any possible discrepancies and contamination during loading and discharging. Suggest implementation of preventive measures.
- Create field report legibly and check / organise them before handing over to office.
- Provide guidance to trainee or junior inspectors when on the job.
- Ensure all work done is in accordance with Bureau Veritas Fair Trade Policy.
- Maintain equipment and apparatus used. Ensure only calibrated equipment are used for inspection. Bring back equipment to office 10 days before due for calibration.

Requirements :
Candidate must possess at least Professional Certificate / NiTEC, Diploma / Degree in Engineering or equivalentAbout 3 to 5 years of working experience in the related field is required for this positionExperience working in Metals and Minerals and general inspection such as cargo inspectionTell employers what skills you have
