PCB Design Engineer – Job Scope
Responsibilities :
- Design and develop PCB layouts based on electrical schematics, mechanical constraints, and design requirements.
- Select appropriate components, footprints, and land patterns in compliance with IPC standards.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and optimization.
- Perform design rule checks (DRC), signal integrity checks, and ensure compliance with EMC / EMI requirements.
- Generate Gerber files, BOM, fabrication drawings, and assembly documentation for production.
- Optimize PCB layouts for thermal performance, power distribution, and manufacturability (DFM, DFA, DFT).
- Work with vendors and PCB fabricators to review stack-ups, tolerances, and material specifications.
- Debug and support prototype boards through assembly, testing, and design iterations.
- Maintain libraries of symbols, footprints, and design templates.
- Ensure designs meet industry standards (IPC-2221, IPC-7351, RoHS, etc.) and project-specific requirements.
Requirements / Skills :
Proficiency with PCB CAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Mentor PADS, Cadence Allegro, OrCAD, KiCad, etc.).Strong understanding of PCB stack-ups, high-speed design, controlled impedance, and multilayer routing.Familiarity with analog, digital, RF, and / or power electronics design considerations.Knowledge of signal integrity, thermal management, and grounding techniques.Experience with manufacturing processes (SMT, through-hole, HDI, rigid-flex).Good documentation skills and attention to detail.Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and manage multiple design projects.Tell employers what skills you have
