Roles & Responsibilities
Personnel to be deployed at the following hours :
- Mondays to Thursdays : 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. inclusive of 30 min lunch break
- Fridays : 7.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. inclusive of 30 min lunch break
- Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
The Services required are set out as follows :
The Personnel shall be competent to perform the following :
Science Laboratory & Lesson Support
Assist in preparing teaching materials, apparatus, and resources for science lessons, demonstrations, experiments, practical tests, workshops, and pupils’ assignments.Support teachers during hands-on lessons and station-based assessments.Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised science room.Ensure equipment and apparatus are in good working condition, reporting faults immediately.Keep up-to-date records of apparatus and resource usage (e.g., breakage logs, replacements).Prepare termly reports on activity-based lesson usage by classes and levels.Perform basic administrative tasks, including stocktake, cataloguing, and loan records.Hydroponics Programme
Set up, maintain, and monitor the school’s hydroponics systems, ensuring proper upkeep of equipment, nutrient levels, and plant health.Support teachers in integrating hydroponics into the curriculum and project-based learning.Guide students in making observations and keeping growth records.Makerspace Support
Maintain the makerspace environment, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are functional, safe, and organised.Prepare resources for makerspace lessons, workshops, and design challenges.Guide students in the safe use of makerspace tools and equipment.Encourage creativity, innovation, and problem-solving through makerspace projects.STEM Enrichment and After-School Activities
Assist in the planning and facilitation of STEM enrichment programmes, after-school clubs, workshops, and competitions.Prepare and manage STEM resources (e.g., robotics kits, coding tools, engineering materials).Guide students in hands-on projects, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.Document and showcase students’ STEM and makerspace projects.Safety and Compliance
Ensure students follow safety protocols during laboratory, hydroponics, STEM, and makerspace activities.Assist in conducting risk assessments and ensure safe storage / disposal of resources.Support urgent duties during evacuation drills and emergencies.Administrative and General Support
Assist with other tasks assigned by the supervisor in support of school programmes.During school holidays or off-peak periods, provide support in other areas of the school with the permission of the supervisor (e.g., stocktaking, resource preparation, school events, learning journeys).Attend relevant training or professional development sessions to improve technical knowledge and support skills.The Personnel shall minimally have the following qualifications, skills and experience :
Minimum GCE O-level educationGood communication and inter-personal skillsProficient in MS Office applicationsAt least 2 years working experience in local school in a similar positionKnowledge of Science / STEM is preferredExperience working in a Science laboratory is preferredShortlisted candidates will be invited for a short interview.
