PURPOSE

Reporting directly to the CFO, the FC leads the entire Finance function, including reporting, operations and transformation. As the main gatekeeper of the Company’s books, the FC leads and inspires his / her teams and ensures the integrity of all financials reported by the Company is maintained at all times. The role also provides regular exposure to senior management and business partnering opportunities.

KEY ACCOUNTAIBILITIES

1. Finance Reporting and Operations

  • Ensure the Company’s accounting, reporting, investment and tax practices are in line with accounting standards and in compliance with regulations, as well as internal and Group policies.
  • Support the CFO in the set-up and maintenance of Finance-related policies to ensure strong governance of internal practices.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all financial reports and statements with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ensure the accounting, investment and other relevant systems, as well as off-system processes and work flows are well-designed and set up to support reporting requirements.
  • Ensure changes to such systems and other processes are made via a well-planned process. Ensure that ample resources and time are allowed for requirement specification and testing to allow for a smooth transition from development to production.
  • Own the budgeting and monitoring process. Support senior management in understanding expense budgets and the impact of spends on the business.
  • Adopt a vigilant and business-focused approach in the role. Highlight risks to senior management promptly.
  • Drive year-end audit process as the key liaison person with external auditors.
  • Support the CFO in maintaining relationship with key bank partners.

2. Finance Transformation Projects

  • Lead finance transformation initiatives, including the implementation of IFRS 17 (overall lead overseeing all workstreams, including Finance, Actuarial and IT).
  • Lead the Projects team in reviewing internal processes and identifying areas of transformation. Conceptualise transformation initiatives, seek internal buy-in from key stakeholders and see initiatives to successful completion.
  • Ensure high quality in project deliverables, and where projects are to be integrated into BAU processes, ensure that a solid transition plan is made and communicated so that transition can be conducted smoothly.
  • Manage project timelines and resources to ensure timely conclusion of projects. Highlight any risks to sponsors promptly.
  • Ensure ample communication to key stakeholders, including senior management and BAU team, to allow for stakeholder buy-in and a good understanding of the impact of the projects on the business or existing processes.
  • QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in accountancy, ACCA qualification or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, with ample experience in the insurance industry
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY

  • Strong Finance leader with proven track record in leading teams
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Solid accounting background and analytical skills, with an eye for detail
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
