Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our legal team — a seasoned and execution-focused professional with strong cross-border legal experience. This role sits just below partner level and is ideal for a sharp, pragmatic legal mind who thrives on rolling up their sleeves to get things done. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of top-tier law firm training and in-house (buy-side) commercial acumen, with full fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English to communicate with the stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide hands-on legal advice on a wide range of commercial, corporate, and transactional matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements including licensing, M&A, joint ventures, financing, and strategic partnerships.
  • Work closely with internal business teams (product, finance, commercial, and executive) to align legal risk with business strategy.
  • Conduct legal due diligence and assess regulatory and compliance risks related to deals and partnerships.
  • Liaise with external counsel and stakeholders as needed on cross-border issues.
  • Manage legal documentation and ensure the company operates within the bounds of relevant laws and regulations, especially in key jurisdictions such as China and the U.S.

Key Requirements :

  • Qualified lawyer, with strong academic credentials and legal education in the U.S. (J.D. or equivalent).
  • Native-level fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English (spoken and written) is essential to communicate with the stakeholders.
  • A minimum of 8–12 years of post-qualification experience, including :
  • Experience at a top-tier international law firm (preferred at senior associate or counsel level).
  • In-house legal experience at a buy-side or investment-driven company, such as in private equity, VC, or multinational corporate environments.
  • Experience working in a large internet or gaming company will be considered a strong plus.
