THE ROLE
This role will work alongside the Head of Technology & Commercialization in all technical and operational activities related to the polymeric solutions portfolio. This role encompasses managing laboratory operations, developing new polymer solutions compatible & integrable with clients process, conducting tests and trials, implementing technology solutions for client projects.
As the Plastic R&D Engineer, you must be able to process, design and optimize solutions for an efficient and cost-effective production of polymers. As well as conduct tests and analyze data to ensure the quality and performance of polymer materials.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in polymer science or materials engineering.
MAIN RESPONSIBLITIES
1. Technical Development :
- Support the development and implementation of new polymeric marking solutions, including formulation and application of markers / codes in various polymer materials, compatible and integrable to clients process & specifications that is scalable & cost efficient.
- Conduct and oversee R&D experiments and trials, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Analyze test results and provide detailed technical reports to the Head of Technology & Commercialization.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to develop Proof of Concepts (POCs) and prototypes that showcase the technology's application.
2. Lab & Testing Management :
Manage day-to-day lab operations, including equipment maintenance, procurement of materials / chemicals, and inventory management.Ensure the lab is configured and structured to meet project needs and safety standards.Work on design & development of cost-efficient polymeric material & solutions for integration to the client process in compliance with client requirements.Coordinate testing schedules and oversee the execution of tests and pilots both internally and with external testing facilities.Maintain comprehensive documentation of all testing activities, results, and processes for internal reviews and external presentations.Implement and oversee Health, Environmental, and Safety (HES) protocols in the lab to ensure a safe working environment.3. Client Technology Implementation :
Assist in the planning and execution of technology implementation projects for clients, ensuring alignment with project timelines and client requirements.Act as a technical liaison between the company and clients, providing technical support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.Participate in client meetings and presentations, explaining technical concepts and solutions in a clear and concise manner.Support the Head of Technology & Commercialisation in the preparation of technical documentation, operational manuals, and reports for client engagements.5. Project Coordination :
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Product Development, and Engineering, to ensure successful project execution.Monitor project progress and address any technical challenges that may arise.Provide regular updates and feedback to the Head of Technology & Commercialisation on project status, risks, and potential areas for improvement.Contribute to the continuous improvement of the polymeric solutions portfolio through innovation and technical excellence.6. Additional Tasks :
Assist in the organization and logistical planning of technology demonstrations, client site visits, and technical workshops.Support the Head of Technology & Commercialisation in identifying new opportunities for technology commercialization and market expansion.Staying updated with the latest advancements in polymer science and incorporating new technologies into the development process.Train and mentor junior engineers or lab technicians as needed.And any other task or duty which client may request.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Polymer Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in polymeric applications, material science, or a similar technical role.Proven experience in laboratory management, testing coordination, and technical project implementation.Strong understanding of polymer characteristics, plastic industrial processes & methods, and application techniques.Hands-on experience in managing R&D experiments and pilot projects.Knowledge of Health, Environmental, and Safety (HES) regulations and best practices.Excellent problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on technical detail and innovation.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with laboratory management software.Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
