SHIP COSTING QS OFFICER

A Ship Costing Quantity Surveyor ( QS) Officer's duties revolve around managing the financial aspects of shipbuilding projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and to the required quality standards. They are involved from the initial planning stages through to project completion, focusing on cost estimation, cost control, and contract management.

Key Responsibilities :

• Cost Estimation and Planning : Preparing detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), and tender documents for shipbuilding projects. This includes analyzing project specifications, drawings, and material requirements to accurately forecast costs.
• Budget Management : Monitoring project budgets, forecasting expenses, and tracking costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to financial plans.
• Procurement and Contract Management : Managing procurement processes, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors, and administering contracts to secure the best value for the project.
• Risk Management : Identifying and assessing potential cost risks, developing mitigation strategies, and implementing cost-saving measures.
• Cost Control and Variation Management : Monitoring actual costs against the budget, identifying and evaluating cost variations, and implementing corrective actions to maintain cost control.
• Contract Administration : Ensuring all contractual obligations are met, managing claims and disputes, and preparing final accounts.
• Reporting and Communication : Preparing regular cost reports, progress reports, and financial forecasts for stakeholders, and communicating effectively with all project teams.
