Roles & Responsibilities
Objectives of the Position :
- Drive optimization projects, change management, and ensure best practice implementation, including role modeling, personnel engagement, and motivation.
- Act as the leader of key projects such as investments, mergers and acquisitions, external supplier collaboration, and tolling.
- Support the introduction of new product lines.
- Develop strategic business unit (SBU) pricing strategies and price corridors.
- Manage and improve distributor performance.
- Select and integrate regional distributors in alignment with the local organization.
Main Areas of Responsibilities :
Strategy
Become the SBU business and strategy expert for Performance Materials :Provide Asian input to the global SBU strategy development.Build up market intelligence, including market size, growth rates, and trends.Understand changes in the competitive environment and analyze and present impacts to the business.Consolidate the business case for the Asia Pacific and support annual budget planning.Define and implement strategic measures to achieve targets :Enable the organization to implement new business models, including new business processes, new sales capabilities, and new production capabilities.Communicate strategic measures to relevant parties to ensure smooth implementation.Together with Marketing and Sales (M&S), identify profitable growth opportunities in existing markets.Steer the organization to remain focused on the performance and strategic measures of the responsible SBU.Value-Based Business Management
Develop a deep understanding of the value drivers, communicate corrective measures, and ensure timely implementation to meet targets.Pricing : Define target margins together with M&S and monitor margin development.Pre-empt cost escalation of raw materials, initiate proactive substitution of key raw materials, and engage procurement and internal suppliers. Provide input to Controlling for transfer pricing discussions with other organizational divisions.Support Controlling to develop an accurate cost allocation mechanism to ensure fair representation of the costing structure.Product Portfolio and Raw Material Management
Be responsible for the SBU results (full profit and loss) in the Asia Pacific.Develop strategic business unit pricing strategies and price corridors.Drive manufacturing network optimization and execute product transfers to define manufacturing network optimization potential, plan implementation, and execute. Manage the transfer of products to manufacturing hubs and ensure customer qualification by the Sales team.Raw material sourcing :Proactively identify raw material cost optimization potential and ensure qualificationManage raw material supply risk areas and ensure second and third source qualification.Lead the technical product management team in close cooperation to ensure the quality and performance of raw materials meet customer requirements.Lead discussions with procurement and suppliers to ensure raw material requirements of the responsible SBU are met, including price, supply points, and logistics requirements.
Product Portfolio Management : Set up and analyze business complexity indicators and initiate corrective measures to meet targets :Propose activities to streamline the portfolio of products.Constantly review low-margin business and design improvement measures.Ensure prompt implementation of measures by Industry Country, Marketing, and Technical Development teams.Toller Management : Lead the process for new toller qualification in accordance with the defined toller qualification process, ensuring strategic fit, environmental health and safety requirements, business case assessment, legal requirements, and pricing.Drive Portfolio Development and Nomenclature :Analyze market and competition data to identify new portfolio to match or surpass market requirementsLead the preparation of communication packages for the sales team.Coordinate New Product Introductions, Product Transfers Across Regions, and Product WithdrawalsHandle plant allocation and risk assessment and lead communication to M&S.Lead the preparation of communication packages for the sales team.Assure and Validate Product Availability on Sales and Strategy ForecastCoordinate Development and Implementation of Business Rules for Product Allocation During Shortages or Force MajeureTeam Leadership
Perform leadership roles, including team development, resource and succession planning.Set annual targets, review performance, and define improvement measures.Define and steer key projects and set priorities.Ensure budgeting, cost monitoring, and compliance with regulations.Job Requirements :
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material / Polymer Science, or Business Management.Minimum 12 years of relevant experience with at least 6 years in a leadership position.Strong technical and professional knowledge of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU).Capability to analyze the market, profitability and design the business model in line with the TPU product strategy.Understanding of production technologies for TPU and the ability to steer the portfolio across different production sites.Skills and experience in achieving results in a multicultural business environment.Capability to find short- and long-term solutions to complex supply situations and make decisions to optimize business performance.Tell employers what skills you have
