Roles & Responsibilities
Reporting Line :
Reports to the Crewing Fleet Manager.
Responsibilities :
- Supervise, coach, and guide assigned Crewing Superintendents and Operators.
- Ensure vessels are manned safely and efficiently in line with statutory minimum requirements, vessel type, trade, and budget.
- Confirm seafarers hold valid STCW and Flag State certifications and required training.
- Verify medical fitness of seafarers through certified, independent practitioners before embarkation.
- Plan and implement crew changes in accordance with Seafarers’ Employment Agreements.
- Coordinate with vessels, owners, and operators to arrange timing and ports for crew changes.
- Handle travel logistics, visas, and required documentation for seafarers.
- Issue Seafarer Employment Agreements in compliance with MLC, Flag State, and local laws.
- Arrange proper handovers and onboard familiarization for joining crew.
- Ensure additional costs outside the manning agreement are billed to owners.
- Track seafarer performance, cadet progress, and initiate follow-up actions where required.
- Administer rotation schedules for officers and ratings.
- Support seafarer career planning, progression, and succession.
- Recruit for seafaring vacancies as necessary.
- Maintain full knowledge of the Management System and ensure correct application.
- Assist with developing and revising procedures when required.
- Promote continuous improvement and contribute to enhancement initiatives.
- Identify training needs and coordinate refresher or follow-up training.
- Review vessel disbursement accounts for accuracy.
- Maintain up-to-date seafarer records.
- Act as the contact point in cases of illness or accidents, liaising with all relevant parties.
- Oversee investigations and closure of non-conformities, audit findings, and client complaints.
Requirements :
Former seagoing service as an officer, or university degree with minimum 3 years’ experience as a Crewing Superintendent.Strong leadership, interpersonal, and management skills.Excellent written and spoken English.Solid knowledge of international and national maritime regulations.Tell employers what skills you have
