We have an exciting career opportunity for the position of Industrial Attachment and Career Development Officer (IACD) and invite industry professionals to join us in our mission.
The Role :
The Industrial Attachment and Career Development (IACD) Officer plays a pivotal role in in bridging academic learning with real-world industry experience, guiding students through internships, career planning, and professional development. The officer coordinates industrial attachment placements, provides career counselling and mentorship, and spearheads student leadership and skills-building initiatives to enhance employability. The Officer will work closely with students, industry partners, and academic staff to ensure students are well-prepared, confident, and future-ready for dynamic career landscapes.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Placement Coordiation
- Identify, develop, and maintain partnerships with industry stakeholders in the Business, Engineering, Hospitality and Logistics sectors.
- Source and liaise with employers to secure quality industrial attachment opportunities aligned with students’ fields of study.
- Match students to appropriate internship roles based on their academic background, career aspirations, and employer requirements.
- Ensure all internship experiences are educationally enriching, industry-relevant, and compliant with regulatory and institutional standards.
2. Student Support
Guide students through the internship process - from preparation, application, and interviews to onboarding.Conduct pre-placement briefings and orientation sessions to prepare students for professional conduct and expectations.Acts as a key liaison between students and industry partners, facilitating clear communication and resolving issues as they arise to ensure smooth collaboration.Monitor student progress during internships via regular check-ins, site visits, and feedback collection.3. Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate records of internship placements, contracts, evaluations, and employer feedback.Ensure that all documentation and processes comply with institutional policies and external accreditation standards.Provide timely reports and updates to senior management on internship outcomes and industry trends.4. Stakeholder Engagement
Organize career talks, employer talks and networking sessions to enhance student-employer interaction.Collaborate with academic departments to ensure alignment between curriculum and industry needs.Establish feedback loops with industry partners for continuous improvement of the internship program.Requirements :
A recognized Diploma in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Education, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in career services or education management will be an advantage.Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in internship coordination, industry partnerships, career services, or student affairs.Experience working with sectors such as Hospitality, Logistics, or Construction / Engineering is highly desirable.Strong understanding of local and regional industry trends and employment practices in the targeted sectors.Excellent communication and negotiation skills to liaise effectively with students and industry partners.Organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail in documentation and compliance.Proactive, resourceful, and student-centric.Professional integrity and ability to handle confidential information.Comfortable with occasional travel for site visits or industry engagements.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant student or placement management systems.Tell employers what skills you have
