Roles & Responsibilities
Responsibility
- Lead and execute offshore Civil / Structural Engineering activities and in-house site surveys for assigned projects across all lifecycle stages, from initial concept definition and feasibility studies through engineering studies, FEED, detailed design, construction, installation, and commissioning. Ensure designs meet project objectives, constructability requirements, and long-term operability.
- Ensure strict compliance with company's technical assurance practices, embedding internal engineering standards, safety management systems, and environmental protection measures into all civil / structural scopes. Review, evaluate, and approve technical deviations and variations against applicable codes, international standards, and corporate guidelines, ensuring risk-informed decision-making.
- Support the continuous improvement of corporate engineering standards by reviewing, updating, and applying company's amendments to international codes (e.g., API, AISC, ISO, DNV). Provide input to the development of enhanced design criteria for offshore structural systems to reflect local environmental, seismic, and operational conditions.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ensuring timely delivery of integrated technical solutions. Facilitate collaboration across structural, geotechnical, naval, mechanical, and process engineering disciplines to align workscopes, resolve design interfaces, and achieve optimized project outcomes.
- Develop, review, and validate multi-disciplinary workscopes for civil / structural engineering deliverables, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and clarity. Anticipate potential design conflicts, interface issues, and gaps, implementing corrective measures early in the engineering process.
- Review and approve contractor-developed method statements for compliance with project requirements, engineering design intent, offshore construction practices, and safety standards. Act as primary focal point for technical engagement with contractors, resolving complex engineering and execution issues.
- Develop, update, and monitor project engineering schedules, integrating internal in-house activities with external FEED and EPIC contractor schedules. Identify critical path items, track engineering deliverables, and ensure alignment with project milestones and overall execution strategy.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of contractor technical bid packages, assessing scope compliance, design adequacy, constructability, and lifecycle integrity. Provide subject-matter expertise during bid clarifications, technical negotiations, and award recommendations.
- Review and evaluate contract change requests and variations, ensuring adherence to approved standards, technical governance frameworks, and project execution plans. Provide recommendations on acceptance, mitigation, or rejection of changes, balancing technical requirements with commercial and schedule considerations.
