Roles & Responsibilities
WSG Data Platform
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong technical capabilities to join our data platform team, serving as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams while facilitating agile delivery practices.
1. Business Analysis and Requirements Management
- Gather and analyse business requirements for data platform initiatives
- Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications and user stories
- Create and maintain requirement documentation, including process flows and user journeys
- Conduct gap analysis between current and desired states
- Develop acceptance criteria for features and capabilities
- Perform impact analysis for proposed changes and enhancements
2. Technical Analysis and Data Platform Support
Work closely with Data Engineers and Solution Architects on technical solutionsDesign and review data models (conceptual, logical, physical)Create and maintain data marts and analytical views using Denodo and RDS to enable business intelligence capabilitiesCreate data visualisations and reports using Tableau / Power BIWrite and optimize VQL / SQL queries for data analysisSupport data virtualisation implementation using DenodoReview API specifications and integration patternsAssist in implementing data governance and quality frameworksSupport CI / CD implementation and testing strategies3. Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholdersFacilitate workshops and requirements gathering sessionsPresent complex technical concepts to non-technical audiencesManage stakeholder expectations and communicate project progressCoordinate cross-functional team activities4. Project Management and Agile Delivery
Serve as Scrum Master for the data platform teamFacilitate sprint ceremonies (planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives)Maintain and groom the product backlog with the Product OwnerManage user stories and track sprint progress using JiraMaintain technical and project documentation in ConfluencePrepare and run Project Steering Committee meetingsTrack project milestones, deliverables, and risksCreate project status reports and manage stakeholder communicationRequirements
Qualifications and Experience :
Qualification in Business, IT, or related field
3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in data platform projectsStrong technical background with hands-on experience in :o Data virtualisation tools (preferably Denodo) and VQL
o BI tools (Tableau, Power BI)
o SQL and data modelling
o Data governance and master data management
o CI / CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent agile certificationExperience with Jira, Confluence, and other collaboration toolsExperience in requirement gathering and documentationProficiency in project management and agile methodologiesStrong facilitation and presentation skillsUnderstanding of RESTful API concepts and integration patternsUnderstanding of cloud platformsAll applicants will be notified on whether they are shortlisted or not within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.
