ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking an experienced General Manager / Deputy General Manager, Operations for leading and optimizing the end-to-end port operations, ensure seamless, efficient, and cost-effective movement of container vessels across global trade lanes, optimize vessel turnaround, maximize schedule reliability, vessel efficiency, and cost management in compliance with international maritime standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Vessel Operations Management
- Lead the execution and performance of vessel movements, including port calls, berthing, cargo operations, and turnaround
- Coordinate with terminals, port authorities, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient vessel schedules
- Ensure optimal stowage planning to maximize vessel capacity utilization at all ports, while maintaining compliance with navigational safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with global maritime standards such as SOLAS, ISPS, and MARPOL.
- Bunkering management, supplier tender and management for bunkering, daily bunker formulation and implementation of bunkering supply plans
Port and Terminal Coordination
Manage strategic partnerships with port and terminal operatorsResolve operational issues related to congestion, infrastructure, or service delaysDocumentation and Compliance
Ensure all operations-related documentation are accurate and submitted in compliance with international regulationsMonitor compliance with environmental, safety, and port-state requirements across the fleetCost and Performance Management
Develop and manage operational budgets covering port charges, bunker consumption, and other marine-related expensesMonitor KPIs including vessel turnaround time, on-time arrival performance etcIdentify opportunities for operational efficiency and implement cost-saving initiativesCross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with commercial, network planning, chartering to ensure operational alignment with business goalsCoordinate with regional offices, overseas agents, and vessel planning centers for execution and issues resolutionRisk and Crisis Management
Lead the operational response to disruptions such as weather delays, labor actions, equipment failures, or port shutdowns.Develop contingency plans for vessel rerouting, missed port calls, and cargo prioritization.Any ad hoc duties or projects as assignedESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Degree with minimum 10 years’ experience in Operations within container shipping, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership roleMinimum experience as a Chief Officer onboard a vessel, with preference given to candidates with experience on container ships.Have more than two years of experience in bunkering management in shipping companiesIn-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations, port operations, and container logisticsProven leadership in managing complex global operations, budgets, and cross-functional teamsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong problem solving and analytical skills essential to analyse operational dataAble to build a strong, collaborative network and communicate effectively at all levels involving different cultures and geographical landscape.Please indicate the below information in your resume :
