The Business Development Director is responsible for driving business growth, securing new contracts, and expanding the company’s presence in the construction and infrastructure sectors. This role involves building long-term client relationships, identifying tender opportunities, and leading bid strategies to achieve the company’s revenue and market share objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Strategy
- Develop and execute business development strategies to grow the company’s portfolio in building, civil engineering, and infrastructure projects.
- Identify and pursue opportunities in both private and public sector projects, including tenders, design & build contracts, and long-term frameworks.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to inform strategy.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, consultants, government agencies, and main contractors.Lead negotiations on high-value contracts, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.Represent the company at industry networking events, conferences, and trade shows.Tender & Proposal Management
Oversee pre-qualification, bid submissions, and tender presentations.Work closely with estimating, commercial, and project delivery teams to prepare competitive proposals.Ensure tender compliance and alignment with client requirements.Revenue & Performance
Drive sales pipeline, ensuring consistent conversion of opportunities into awarded projects.Meet or exceed annual revenue, margin, and business growth targets.Provide accurate business forecasts and market intelligence to senior management.Leadership & Collaboration
Lead, mentor, and develop the business development team.Collaborate with project, operations, and technical teams to support delivery excellence.Establish KPIs and monitor progress against business development objectives.Tell employers what skills you have
