Role Overview
The Secondary English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher plays a key role in supporting students whose first language is not English to achieve academic success across the Secondary, IGCSE, and IB Diploma programmes.
The role focuses on delivering high-quality, differentiated instruction, enabling language acquisition, and supporting students’ integration into mainstream academic learning within an international school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality EAL instruction across Secondary, IGCSE, and IB Diploma levels in alignment with school and curriculum standards
- Design and implement engaging, differentiated lesson plans to support varied language proficiency levels
- Collaborate with subject teachers to support students’ access to the wider curriculum
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress, setting clear learning goals and providing actionable feedback
- Prepare student reports and actively engage with parents through conferences and regular communication
- Contribute to the development of inclusive learning strategies and intervention plans
- Participate in co-curricular activities, school events, professional development, and staff meetings
- Promote student wellbeing, safeguarding, and a positive learning environment at all times
- Embed the IB Learner Profile attributes and uphold OWIS values in all interactions
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant subject area
- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGCEi, PGDE, NIE Diploma, QTS, or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a relevant EAL or English teaching role
- Demonstrated experience teaching English within Secondary, IGCSE, or IB Diploma frameworks

- Strong understanding of second language acquisition and EAL pedagogy
- Ability to deliver student-centred, inquiry-based learning
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a multicultural environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: SGD 4,500 – 5,500 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications
