Role Summary
The Electrical Engineer (EDM) is responsible for the design, development, testing, and validation of electrical circuits and systems for Electrical Discharge Machines (EDMs). The role supports Makino Asia’s R&D objectives by ensuring reliable, high-performance, and safe electrical designs that meet product, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and review electrical schematics and circuit designs for EDM machines, including power supply, discharge circuits, control panels, and safety circuits.
- Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting, and validation of EDM systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and compliance with design specifications.
- Support prototype build, system integration, and commissioning of EDM machines during development and testing phases.
- Analyse test results and implement design improvements or corrective actions to enhance performance, stability, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, manufacturing, and application teams to resolve technical issues and support cross-functional projects.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics, test reports, design change records, and technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with Makino quality standards, engineering processes, and safety requirements (QEHS / Engineering procedures).
- Provide engineering support to downstream functions such as manufacturing, service, and customer support when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Fundamental knowledge of:
o Electrical circuit design and analysis
o Power electronics and control circuits
o Electrical testing and measurement techniques
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team based R&D environment.
Preferred Attributes
• Experience or academic projects related to EDM, CNC machines, automation, or industrial machinery.
• Familiarity with electrical design tools, simulation, or test equipment.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented, and willing to continuously learn new technologies.
• Able to work independently while adhering to structured engineering processes.
