Key Responsibilities
Serve as a regional subject matter expert in injection science and physiology, drug‑device combination products, drug delivery systems, and primary packaging technologies.
Lead scientific assessments and feasibility evaluations for new drug delivery concepts, emerging technologies, and innovative customer opportunities.
Support development of regional innovation strategies aligned with key growth areas including biologics, biosimilars, GLP‑1 therapies, vaccines, high‑concentration formulations, and large‑volume subcutaneous delivery.
Contribute to invention disclosures, patents, publications, and scientific presentations that strengthen BD's thought leadership position.
Support evaluation of novel technologies, partnership opportunities, and external innovation initiatives.
Engage with pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers during early‑stage development programs and scientific discussions on device selection, injection feasibility, and delivery performance.
Translate customer needs into technical and scientific requirements including device, formulation, and bench/preclinical/clinical study design recommendations.
Support early‑stage (preclinical) through clinical development discussions for large‑volume and complex injections.
Provide scientific input on drug‑device combination strategy, platform selection, formulation‑device interactions, and technology roadmaps.
Partner with Technical Services teams to ensure smooth transition from early‑stage development activities into commercial support phases.
Collaborate closely with Technical Services teams across Greater Asia to ensure alignment of customer support activities and effective transfer of technical knowledge.
Work with Global R&D & BDTI to identify opportunities for regional technology development and adaptation.
Partner with Marketing and Commercial teams to support strategic customer opportunities through scientific expertise.
Leverage regional testing capabilities to support early feasibility assessments and technology evaluation activities.
Represent BD at scientific conferences, industry forums, workshops, and customer events.
Develop and deliver scientific training materials for internal stakeholders.
Support publication of scientific studies, posters, and technical papers.
Foster scientific knowledge sharing across the Greater Asia organization.
Requirements
Travel: 50 to 75%
Languages: Fluent in English and Mandarin (spoken and written to liaise with stakeholders in China).
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage external stakeholders.
Education: PhD preferred; Master's degree accepted in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Biotechnology, or related disciplines.
- Experience: 5-8 years of relevant experience with a PhD or 10-12 years with a Master's degree.
- Experience working with drug delivery systems such as prefilled syringes, autoinjectors, and wearable injectors.
- Experience in pre‑clinical and/or clinical drug delivery research and model development is preferred.
