MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANIC

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

• Perform servicing, maintenance and repair of petrol and diesel vehicles.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot automotive engine faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Perform engine oil servicing and routine vehicle maintenance.
• Repair and maintain brake systems, including brake installation and replacement.
• Repair and maintain steering and suspension systems.
• Service and repair vehicle air-conditioning systems, including air-conditioning filter replacement.
• Perform battery testing, maintenance and replacement.
• Diagnose and repair automotive electrical systems and wiring.
• Repair and replace exhaust system components.
• Repair and maintain vehicle transmission and drivetrain systems.
• Carry out wheel alignment, tyre replacement and tyre servicing.
• Install automotive accessories such as reverse cameras, DVRs and alarm systems.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and replace defective or worn parts.
• Provide roadside assistance when required.
• Attend to customers' enquiries on vehicle-related matters.
• Maintain workplace safety and cleanliness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of motor vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot engine, mechanical and electrical faults.
• Familiarity with automotive diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Responsible, safety-conscious and willing to learn.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Able to perform shift work, work on weekends and public holidays when required.
