Senior Research Officer (AV Lab), IMCB

Roles & Responsibilities

Prof. Ashok Venkitaraman lab is seeking an exceptionally motivated Research Officer to work in his lab at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), A*STAR and enjoy themselves in the dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment of the laboratory. The laboratory works on developing cutting edge technologies to screen and identify novel therapeutic targets. The candidate will assist in experiments under the supervision of the project head. This role will include preparing, planning and performing laboratory experiments, and accurate recording of experimental procedures and results, as well as ordering necessary chemicals and reagents to perform experiments.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform cell culture work (cancer cell maintenance, in-vitro assays, LN2 stocks maintenance etc.)
• Conduct molecular biology experiments (RT-qPCR, RNA preparation, plasmid preparation, cloning, western blotting, gene-editing using CRISPR)
• Cell biology methods- transfection methods (siRNA, plasmid transfection and electroporation)
• Prepare lab reagents, chemicals, instruments and equipment
• Able to work independently with limited supervision
• Able to work efficiently and enthusiastically as part of the team
• Capacity for problem solving
• Maintains detailed laboratory notebook

Candidates may have a degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
