Roles & Responsibilities

A dishwasher job involves cleaning & sanitizing all dishes, utensils, & cookware using manual methods or commercial machines

Dishwashers must follow strict food safety, sanitation guidelines & be able to work in a fast-paced environment

1. Wash and sanitize all dishes, glassware, flatware, pots & pans,this includes operating dishwasher machine
2. Keep the kitchen area clean by sweeping, mopping, wiping down surfaces, emptying trash & recycling bins
3. Maintain a clean & sanitary work area, following all health & safety regulations, & proper procedures for handling & storing clean items
4. Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, or chopping vegetables & fruit
5. Unpack and store supplies, such as food, utensils & cleaning chemicals in their proper locations
6. Report any maintenance issues with kitchen equipment or hazards in the workplace to a supervisor
7. Work well with other kitchen staff & assist with other duties as needed

Maintenance of Dishwasher Machine - Daily Tasks (After Each Shift / End of Day)

1. Turn off the machine & allow it to cool before cleaning
2. Drain all water from the machine & remove any food debris from filters, screens, and traps
3. Clean the wash & rinse arms—remove, rinse, and ensure no spray holes are clogged
4. Wipe down interior walls and doors using a non-abrasive cloth & approved detergent
5. Scrub the tank area to remove food residue, grease, and lime buildup
6. Clean the scrap basket/strainer to ensure smooth water flow
7. Inspect curtains & replace if torn or greasy
8. Clean detergent & rinse-aid nozzles to prevent buildup & ensure consistent chemical flow
9. Leave doors open overnight to allow air-drying & prevent mold or odour
