Database Administrator ( Oracle/ Microsoft SQL Server/ PostgreSQL)

Roles & Responsibilities

Primary Purpose:

• Application DBA (Apps DBA) is responsible for performing database administration activities such as database setup, defining and maintaining database objects, backup and recovery. The role is also involved in database design and review, application SQL tuning, and maintaining documentation to meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and optimize database performance and availability, ensuring service levels are met and implementing improvements when needed.
• Manage database operations and governance, including configuration, permissions, hardening standards, naming standards, and documentation.
• Ensure service continuity, leading backup/restore procedures and disaster recovery planning
• Lead database implementation and support application teams by reviewing database design and recommending improvements to data models.
• Establish and enforce database standards and procedures across implementations
• Engage stakeholders and educate teams, explaining technical decisions and promoting best practices in coding and design
• Develop team capability by mentoring junior DBAs, conducting training, and sharing knowledge across the organization
• Stay updated with database technologies and contribute lessons learned to internal knowledge repositories

Requirements:

• 2 years of experience in database administration preferred
• Experience with either Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Experience in database migration projects, Specifically, migration from Oracle to Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle to PostgreSQL
