The Bioinformatics Institute (BII) is a leading hub of innovation and research at the forefront of AI for biomedical data science, bioinformatics, computational biology, and data-driven life sciences. Expertise in BII includes AI in drug discovery, biomolecular modelling, AI for image analysis and diagnosis, clinical and omics data integration and analytics etc, which greatly contribute towards the national R&D strategies. As a member of the BII Tech-Biz team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the institute growth trajectory and its collaborative ventures with industry, public sector, and academic partners.
Role Overview :
We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual with both scientific / technical literacy (in bioinformatics, computational biology, AI, or life sciences) and strong business development / partnership skills to join our team as a Manager / Senior Manager / Assistant Director. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Strategy and Tech-Biz to drive marketing and business development initiatives for the institute. You will be responsible for forging impactful partnerships, creating communication materials, and spearheading collaborations that significantly amplify the institute influence in the bioinformatics landscape. You are expected to have a good understanding of the science and research conducted at BII and be able to communicate this knowledge effectively to partners, ensuring alignment and fostering strong, mutually beneficial relationships. You will be expected to take full ownership of entire lifecycle of contracts and agreements signing—from initial discussions and drafting, through negotiation of terms and internal approvals, to final execution and signing.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop deep understanding of BII's research portfolio and translate scientific capabilities into compelling value propositions for diverse external stakeholders.
- Serve as BII's primary ambassador at high-level meetings and industry events, delivering impactful
technical presentations that showcase institutional capabilities to internal and external stakeholders.
Drive partnership initiatives through strategic stakeholder engagement, hosting collaborativediscussions and workshops that advance institutional objectives.
Work closely with the Director of Strategy and Tech-Biz to formulate and implement effective marketing and business development strategies.Execute strategic positioning initiatives through benchmarking and technology evaluations inbioinformatics, computational biology, AI, and related domains to support partnership development.
Conduct comprehensive market intelligence activities including competitive analysis, trendidentification, and opportunity assessment to guide institutional strategic decisions.
Lead end-to-end deal development and contract negotiation, ensuring optimal terms and strategic alignment while managing complex multi-stakeholder processes with exceptional attention to detail.Serve as the primary liaison between internal research teams and external partners, facilitatingknowledge transfer and strategic communications.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including legal, finance, and compliance to ensure all agreementsmeet institutional standards and regulatory requirements.
Establish comprehensive project documentation frameworks to ensure seamless communication,decision tracking, and sustained momentum across all collaborative initiatives.
Contribute towards maintaining a database of partnerships and engagements, including tracking of KPIs and other impact metrics to inform future institutional strategy.Champion organizational excellence by implementing strategic initiatives and driving process optimization aligned with institutional and ASTAR’s priorities.Support grant and funding applications through business intelligence and strategic partnership development.Assist in project management tasks, including preparing agreements, coordinating project timelines, and ensuring project deliverables are met.Support and execute high-impact marketing initiatives including conferences, seminars, and industry engagement events when needed.Job Requirements :
Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline with the ability to bridge scientific and business domains.Exceptional learning agility with proven capacity to rapidly synthesize complex technical information and develop targeted value propositions for diverse audiences.Outstanding stakeholder management skills with demonstrated success in building and maintaining strategic relationships across multiple organizational levels.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with emphasis on strategic stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaborationProven track record in creating high-impact marketing materials and executive-level presentations (you may share past works in your application).Exceptional project management and organizational capabilities with strong attention to detail in complex agreement development.Familiarity with the bioinformatics or life sciences industry.Highly adaptable with demonstrated success in navigating evolving priorities and organizational transformation.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other workplace collaboration tools and software.Self-motivated and proactive with proven ability to excel both independently and within high-performing collaborative teams.Exceptional time management and prioritization skills with experience managing multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.Strategic flexibility and resilience in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive.
