Job Overview
The Head of Technical Manager is responsible for group-level oversight of engineering operations, maintenance, asset management, and capital projects across multiple hotels / properties. This role ensures optimal performance, safety, and safeguard the long-term value of assets while driving operational and energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities
1) Engineering & Maintenance Oversight
- Provide direct oversight to property-level engineering teams.
- Review and monitor Engineers’ task lists regularly to confirm timely completion of ongoing and new assignments.
- Conduct weekly meetings with engineering teams to assess progress,troubleshoot challenges and resolve outstanding issues.
- Ensure all properties maintain safe, efficient, and reliable operations of building systems, equipment, and facilities, and that preventive maintenance schedules are adhered to across all areas, including guestrooms, outlets, kitchens, pools, HVAC, and lighting.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency, cost savings,and enhanced preventive maintenance practices.
- Conduct regular property audits to assess engineering performance and recommend improvements.
2) Capital Expenditure & Asset Protection
Review and monitor all R&M budgets and capital expenditure requests to ensure alignment with operational needs and financial guidelines.Oversee procurement processes and vendor contracts (e.g., lifts, chillers, BMS, fire safety), ensuring are cost-efficiency and transparency and service quality.Report on life-cycle planning of major plant and equipment, including replacement cycles, refurbishment timelines and long-term capital needs.3) Projects, Upgrades and FF&E
Plan and oversee renovations, refurbishments, and capital improvement projects.Ensure all projects comply with safety codes, environmental regulations, and brand standards.Coordinate property upgrades with ownership’s strategic investment plans, ensuring value creation and long-term asset protection.Manage timelines,budgets, and contractors to deliver projects efficiently, while ensuring quality standards are met.Ensure smooth and structured project handovers to property-level engineering teams, with clear documentation and training where required.4) Sustainability & Energy Efficiency
Drive energy reduction, water conservation, and waste management initiatives across all properties.Assess and implement new technologies (e.g., smart controls, LED retrofits, solar readiness) to deliver both ROI and environmental benefit.5) Innovation, Technology & Smart Building Solutions
Drive the adoption of innovative, smart-building, and IoT solutions to optimise operational efficiency and enable predictive maintenance.Leverage digital platforms and AI-driven analytics and performance monitoring tools to improve asset reliability and enable proactive maintenance strategies.Oversee feasibility studies, design reviews, and project execution to ensure quality,compliance and alignment with owner’s requirements.6) Reporting & Communication
Provide monthly engineering and asset reports to Senior Management, highlighting performance, risks, and investment needs.Act as the owner’s representative in technical negotiations with consultants, contractors and external stakeholders.Requirements
Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Building Engineering.Minimum 10–15 years of progressive experience in engineering / facilities management, with at least 5 years in a senior multi-property or corporate role within hospitality.Strong financial acumen in budgeting, capex planning, and ROI analysis.Track record in sustainability projects and technical asset protection.Excellent communication and ability to influence property-level teams.Willing to travel 50% of the timeTell employers what skills you have
