Responsibilities
- Provide legally sound and business‑oriented assistance to internal clients in relation to all aspects of the physical trading of commodities.
- Offer day‑to‑day legal support to the business operations, including drafting bespoke charterparty clauses, handling payment disputes, and supporting trade and business development activities.
- Structure, draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements such as offtake, tolling, and chartering arrangements in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage arbitration and litigation in a wide variety of jurisdictions, including management of external counsel.
Interactions
Handle about 20 live issues at any one time, collaborating with traders, platform heads, senior managers, legal colleagues globally, and external counsel.Adapt swiftly to changing circumstances, prioritise matters, and resolve issues efficiently.Qualifications
6–8 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 4 years in private qualified solicitor (PQE).Solid legal skills in international trade and dry shipping.Experience in a commodities trading house is a plus.Qualified solicitor in English law or common law.Proficient spoken and written English.Other Skills
