Roles & Responsibilities
The Department Manager, Quality & Safety is responsible for overseeing the operation of three key sections within the Quality & Safety Department : Quality Control (QC), Annual Inspection (AI), and Workplace Safety & Health (WSH). This role ensures the smooth and efficient daily operations of the department, ensuring that all activities meet the Company’s standards and regulatory requirements. The Department Manager will provide leadership, guidance, and support to each section, fostering a culture of quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities
Leadership and Management :
- Oversee the daily operations of the QC, AI, and WSH sections to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of section heads and their respective teams.
- Set clear objectives for each section, aligning them with the departmental and organizational goals.
- Lead regular team meetings to monitor progress, address challenges, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Chair department meetings.
- Conduct toolbox meeting on every Monday.
- Disseminate any update on technical information from our overseas subsidiaries with the relevant departments on a timely basis.
- Consolidate all quality cost control reports and report to our HQ on a timely basis.
Quality Control (QC) :
Ensure the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality control processes.Ensure in-process and final inspections of our lifts and escalators are carried out in accordance with our local code (SS550, SS626) and in compliance with our factor requirements.Highlight any discrepancy of any non-compliance to the Person-In-Charge and to work closely with them to close off the gap.Monitor the product quality standards, conduct inspections, and lead root-cause analysis for quality issues.Collaborate with other departments to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.Attend Sub-Con meetings conducted by I&T Department.Annual Inspection (AI) :
Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of annual inspections for all lift and escalators.Ensure compliance with regulatory inspection standards and valid certifications and work with external agencies when necessary.Ensure timely renewal of Permit To Operate (PTO) for our lift and escalators on a yearly basis.Ensure all defects are rectified timely within the expiry month.Ensure the SPE approves our lift and escalator lodgements timely.Maintain records of inspection results and address any non-compliance issues.Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) & Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) :
Ensure the implementation of safety programs and initiatives to maintain a safe working environment.Conduct regular safety audits and risks assessments to identify potential hazards.Reduce our workplace accident to zero case accident.Educate and conduct refresher training for our internal employees and as well as our Sub-Con employees.Collaborate with other departments to promote safety awareness and employee well-being.Responsible for chairing our Workplace Safety & Health Committee (WSH) meeting.Responsible for taking meeting of minutes and sharing with all attendees on a timely basis.Plan and conduct our fire drill yearly.Responsible and coordinate our internal Safety Awareness Week Event on a yearly basis.Job Requirements
Candidate must possess a minimum Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Safety Management, Quality Assurance, or a related field.Minimum 15 years of working experience in the similar lift and escalator industry.Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.In-depth knowledge of quality control standards, safety regulations and inspection protocols.Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.Tell employers what skills you have
