Global Project Logistics Chartering Operations Specialist

The Chartering Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting the Charter Desk to provide effective and efficient chartering operations and post-fixture support to the internal network and external direct client

Your Role

Perform post-fixture work for chartered vessels, including laytime calculations, documentation, daily updates, dispute resolution, enforcing charter party terms, monitoring ship performance, and handling performance claims

Your Responsibilities

  • Documentation Management : Produce and review various shipping documents, including Charter Parties, Booking Notes, and Bills of Lading, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Operational Coordination : Liaise closely with carriers, charterers, colleagues, shipping agents, and the internal engineering team to ensure seamless operations and address any issues promptly.
  • Administrative Duties : Oversee general office administration tasks, including maintaining records, managing correspondence, and ensuring that freight payments are processed in a timely manner.
  • Spot Chartering and Tenders : Assist with spot chartering requirements and participate in tender processes on an ad-hoc basis, providing necessary support and documentation.
  • Industry Engagement : Participate in carrier meetings and regional conferences to stay updated on industry trends, build relationships, and represent the company’s interests.
  • Field Support : Support teams by participating in load-out and load-in operations aboard vessels, with an expectation of 25-30 days of travel per year to various global locations.
  • HSSE Communication : Communicate Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) requirements to relevant parties, ensuring compliance and promoting a safe working environment.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Education : Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or Logistics.
  • Industry Expertise : Strong network and comprehensive knowledge of the breakbulk, heavylift, and bulk markets.
  • Technical Proficiency : Skilled in preparing Statements of Facts and performing Laytime Calculations.
  • Leadership Experience : Demonstrated success in managing vessel charter operations in a leadership capacity.
  • Contractual Knowledge : Proficient with BIMCO charter contracts and experienced in using BIMCO Charter Party Editor programs such as Conline, GenCon, Heavyliftvoy, and Supplytime.
  • Field Operations : Hands-on experience in overseeing loading and discharging operations globally.
  • Preferred Experience : Minimum of 2 years in the breakbulk, heavylift, or bulk market.
