We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Executive (Marine Claims) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and processing marine-related insurance claims marine cargo or hull claims. You will serve as a key liaison between clients, intermediaries, surveyors, and other stakeholders, ensuring smooth claims handling from notification to settlement.
Responsibilities :
- Handle telephone enquiries and attend to walk-in customers in a professional and timely manner.
- Liaise with clients, intermediaries, surveyors / adjusters, handling agents, overseas principals, and affiliated companies within the Group.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence; attend meetings with clients and intermediaries when required.
- Upon claims notification, collect relevant customer details, coordinate surveys, and contact settling agents if necessary.
- Create and maintain claim files and checklists; review policy, reinsurance, and treaty arrangements to confirm underwriting acceptance with the Group.
- Issue acknowledgment letters and request required claims documentation from clients or intermediaries.
- Prepare and dispatch Preliminary Loss Advice (PLA) and cash call advice; follow up with reinsurers for timely payment.
- Draft Letters of Loss Advice (LLA) and Marine Loss Reports (MLR) for management approval, ensuring reserves are accurate and updated promptly.
- Monitor diary dates for active files, ensuring timely follow-ups and proper documentation before archiving.
- Verify premium payment status before claims processing and liaise with Finance regarding any delays.
- Refer claims with potential recovery to recovery agents and follow up actively on the recovery process.
- Maintain accurate records for exceptional cases (e.g., ex-gratia payments, large losses) and related recoveries.
- Review and escalate claims exceeding authority limits to the Head of Department (HOD) or Senior Management for approval prior to communicating with clients or agents.
- Conduct regular file reviews and compile monthly / quarterly claims statistics as needed.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for the Marine Claims module.
- Perform other duties or projects as assigned by management.
- Undertake ad hoc administrative or operational tasks as required.
Requirements :
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Solid understanding of insurance principles.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Able to multi-task, work well in a team, and demonstrate attention to detail.Customer-focused, tactful, conscientious, and eager to learn new skills.Prior experience in handling marine insurance claims.Possession of ACII, AAII, CGI, or equivalent insurance qualifications.We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
