School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is one of the
founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University. Built on
a culture of excellence, the School is renowned for its high
academic standards and research. With over 3,000 undergraduates
students and 2,000 graduate students it is one of the largest EEE
schools in the world and ranks 4th in the field of Electrical &
Electronic Engineering in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by
Subjects.
Today, the School has become one of
the world's largest engineering schools that nurtures competent
engineers and researchers. Each year, the School graduates over a
thousand students who are ready to take on great ambitions and
challenges.

We
are looking for a Research Fellow to conduct research in the theory
and simulation of nanomaterials, with a primary focus on 2D
materials. Topics include but are not limited to : 2D
ferroelectrics, 2D multiferroics, topological materials, and moiré
superlattices (twistronics). The role will focus on developing and
applying theoretical models and computational quantum chemistry and
machine learning methods to uncover novel properties and phenomena
in low-dimensional material systems, contributing to NTU's
leadership in physics, materials science and engineering
research.
Key
Responsibilities :
Conduct independent and collaborative theoretical and
computational research on 2D materials, including ferroelectric,
multiferroic, topological, and moiré systems.
Develop, implement, and apply advanced simulation
techniques (e.g., density functional theory, tight-binding,
molecular dynamics) to investigate physical properties and
phenomena in nanomaterials.
Analyze and
interpret computational results; prepare high-quality manuscripts
and research reports.
Present research
findings at group meetings, international conferences, and
workshops.
Mentor and supervise undergraduate
and graduate students in research projects.
Collaborate with experimental groups and external
partners to validate and enhance research
outcomes.
Job
Requirements : PhD
degree in physics, chemistry, materials science or related
field.
Technical experience in quantum
chemistry, condensed matter physics, theoretical materials
science.
Familiarity with quantum chemistry
(density functional theory) calculations. Working knowledge of
condensed matter theory and theoretical materials science.
Additional knowledge of areas such as 2D materials,
ferroelectricity, multiferroics, topology, as well as other
methods, such as molecular dynamics and machine learning methods,
would be considered advantageous
Strong
programming skills (e.g., Python, Julia, Fortran, C++, MATLAB) and
experience with high-performance computing environments
Demonstrated publication record in reputable
peer-reviewed journals
Excellent written and
oral communication skills
Strong analytical,
problem-solving, and organizational abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a
multidisciplinary research team
