The Client :
Our client is a prominent, well-established group in the shipping industry, recognized as a relevant regional player. They are seeking an experienced professional to join their team in Singapore.
Job Scope :
This key role involves managing the strategy and profit and loss (P&L) for a portfolio of markets. The successful candidate will be pivotal in driving profitable growth by developing and executing a trade strategy that strengthens the company's market position.
Job Responsibilities :
- Strategically develop and implement trade plans by analyzing global economic and political shifts, ensuring alignment with the company's aspirations to be a key regional player.
- Conduct in-depth market intelligence to identify emerging trends, analyze competitor activities, and pinpoint new business opportunities, demonstrating an intuitive grasp of the markets.
- Oversee pricing strategies and revenue generation to optimize profitability and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
- Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks stemming from market volatility, regulatory changes, or geopolitical events.
- Collaborate closely with operational teams to establish efficient cost structures and enhance the trade's competitiveness.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with critical customers and partners, working in conjunction with commercial teams on negotiations, including tenders.
- Champion the use of data to drive decision-making, consistently extracting actionable insights from available information.
Qualifications & Skills :
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Maritime, Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience within the shipping, maritime or freight forwarding industry.A profound understanding of international shipping regulations, market trends, and competitors.Strong commercial acumen, including excellent analytical skills and the ability to anticipate future market trends and developments.Exceptional communication skills for interacting with both internal and external stakeholders, along with strong leadership abilities to guide and motivate the wider team.A proactive approach to problem-solving and an enjoyment of the unpredictable challenges inherent in the shipping industry, such as disruptions caused by global events.Data-savvy, with a keen interest in working with numbers and using them to convey compelling narratives.
