General Manager (Retail)
Summary
We are seeking a results-driven General Manager (Retail) to Singapore’s retail operations, drive business growth, and ensure exceptional customer experience across all stores. You will oversee P&L performance, team management, and operational excellence, aligning local strategies with the global brand vision to expand market share and strengthen the organisation’s presence in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead end-to-end retail operations for Singapore, including store network management, inventory control, visual merchandising, and customer service standards.
2. Own P&L accountability : Set annual sales targets, cost-control goals, and profit margins; monitor performance metrics (sales, foot traffic, conversion rate) and implement corrective actions to meet or exceed KPIs.
3. Build and develop a high-performing retail team : Recruit, train, coach, and retain store managers and frontline staff; foster a positive work culture focused on productivity, collaboration, and brand alignment.
4. Develop and execute local retail strategies : Analyze Singapore’s retail market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotional campaigns.
5. Ensure compliance with local regulations (labor laws, safety standards, tax requirements) and global policies across all retail operations.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (global headquarters, supply chain, marketing) to ensure timely product replenishment, launch new collections, and execute brand-building initiatives in Singapore.
7. Resolve complex operational issues (e.g., store performance gaps, customer complaints, supply chain delays) and escalate critical matters to senior leadership when necessary.
Requirements & Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
2. Minimum 8-10 years of progressive retail management experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Regional Manager, Retail Director) within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), lifestyle, or fashion retail sector.
3. Proven track record of driving retail sales growth, improving profitability, and managing a multi-store network (experience in Singapore market).
4. Financial acumen : Ability to analyze P&L statements, budget effectively, and make data-driven decisions to optimize operational efficiency.
5. Excellent leadership and people management skills : Ability to inspire teams, resolve conflicts, and develop talent in a fast-paced retail environment.
6. Deep understanding of Singapore’s retail landscape, consumer behavior, and local regulatory requirements.
7. Good communication, problem-solving, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
