A Speech-Language Therapist assesses and provides intervention to students, of The Canossian Village and in the wider community, with speech, language and communication needs. You will contribute to The Village's efforts in providing an enhanced service delivery through the Canossian Circle of Care. You will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide quality care and partners with schools, families and relevant agencies to provide integrated service delivery.
Critical Work Functions and Key Tasks
Clinical - Conduct Client Assessment and Therapy Planning
- Conduct functional assessments to determine required therapy interventions for basic cases
- Formulate client-centred and SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely) goals in collaboration with clients and relevant stakeholders
- Select appropriate and specific outcome measures to enable evaluation of therapy progress and outcomes
- Provide therapy recommendations based on evaluation of clients' needs
- Communicate the assessment results, therapy plans, goals and outcome measures to clients and other relevant stakeholders
Clinical - Delivery of Intervention
Provide interventions for routine casesEvaluate therapy progress and outcomes using selected therapy outcome measures at regular intervalsModify therapy plans based on client performance and motivation as well as therapy outcome measures collectedFormulate discharge plans based on client performance in consultation with relevant stakeholdersImprove intervention by adoption of new techniques and technologiesCommunicate intervention plans, outcome measures,progress and discharge criteria to clients and relevant stakeholdersEmpower client and caregiver on methods to enhance health, mobility and functions through self management strategiesPrescribe assistive devices and equipment according to clients' needsCollaborative Work
Work collaboratively with caregivers, colleagues and / or professionals from relevant agencies to address the needs of students from diverse backgroundsFacilitate teaming meetings with stakeholders to provide consultation, review progress of goals, and discuss about casesUtilise evidence-based practices for assessment, case formulation, intervention, progress evaluationPrepare and maintain relevant documentationBuild relationships with caregivers and teachersSupervision

Education and Experience
Undergraduate or Master's Degree in Speech PathologyAt least 3 years of relevant experience in pediatric / school-based settingRelevant experience working with students with hearing loss will be an added advantageTechnical Skills and Competencies
Professional license : Fully registered with the Allied Health Professions Council of SingaporeCapacity to work effectively in response to work demands (responding to client needs in different circumstances including critical incidents)Generic Skills and Competencies
