The role of a piping engineer in the reinstatement of a power plant is crucial and involves restoring, verifying, and ensuring the integrity and functionality of piping systems that are essential for the plant's operation.
Job Scope
1. Assist the Piping Lead Engineer in executing assigned engineering tasks with minimal supervision.
2. Evaluate the existing condition of piping systems after shutdown, disuse, or damage.
3. Conduct visual inspections, via various testing
4. Identify corrosion, leaks, mechanical damage, or outdated sections.
5. Review (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), isometric drawings, and material specifications.
6. Verify that as-built conditions match design documentation or flag deviations
7. Redesign or modify pipe routing if needed due to new equipment, updated standards, or space constraints.
8. Select appropriate materials and stress analysis for changed operational conditions
9. Develop work schedules for pipe reinstatement activities in coordination with other disciplines (civil, mechanical, E&I).
10. Ensure timely procurement of materials, fittings, and valves.
11. Supervise piping fabrication and installation works.
12. Ensure compliance with welding procedures, codes
13. Prepare final documentation for the reinstated systems, including test records, updated drawings, and material certificates.
Requirements
1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably recognized by PE Board (Singapore).
2. Minimum 5 years of piping engineering experience in shipyard, offshore, or petrochemical projects.
3. Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards :
4. Proficient in piping design tools like AutoCAD, and other tools
5. Competent in preparing and reviewing pipe stress analysis reports and using tools
6. Skilled in interpreting layouts, and mechanical handling / access requirements.
7. Able to interface with procurement, vendors, construction, and QA / QC teams across project phases.
8. Knowledge of local safety practices and risk assessments related to hotwork, confined space, and high-pressure systems.
9. Proficient in MS Excel and digital tools for data tracking, documentation, and reporting.
