Roles & Responsibilities

A Senior Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Engineer plays a critical role in the planning, coordination, and execution of M&E systems in construction and infrastructure projects. Their responsibilities span across both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines, ensuring systems are designed, installed, tested, and maintained in accordance with specifications and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead M&E planning and design coordination during pre-construction and construction phases.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, consultants, and contractors to integrate M&E works.
• Monitor progress, quality, and costs of M&E work to ensure timelines and budgets are met.
• Attend and chair coordination and technical meetings.
• Review M&E designs, drawings, and specifications for compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
• Ensure proper integration of mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) and electrical (lighting, power, low-voltage systems) components.
• Propose design modifications and value engineering to optimize performance and reduce costs.
• Supervise M&E installation works at the construction site.
• Ensure workmanship and materials comply with contract specifications and quality standards.
• Lead inspections and testing (e.g., pressure tests, continuity tests) before handover.
• Plan and manage the testing, commissioning, and handover of M&E systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during testing phases.
• Ensure documentation (O&M manuals, as-built drawings, etc.) is completed and submitted.
• Ensure all M&E systems comply with local codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Enforce safety protocols and oversee risk assessments related to M&E works.
