Job Purpose :
We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Communications & Engagement Lead to be the voice and ears of our organisation. You will play a pivotal role in amplifying our mission, engaging our diverse community and stakeholders, and ensuring our message of hope and support reaches those who need it most. This role is central to building awareness and trust, fostering connection and mobilising support for our vital work.
You will be the operational anchor for all communications, working closely with the Assistant Director, Partnerships & Communications to turn strategy into action. We need someone who is passionate about our cause and willing to go the extra mile.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Amplifying Our Mission & Messaging
- Develop and execute communication strategies that enhance our visibility, engage stakeholders (donors, volunteers, partners), and ensure consistency in our messaging across all touchpoints.
- Craft compelling stories that showcase the real-life impact of our programmes.
- Manage media relations, building strong media relationships and presence, and acting as a key point of contact.
2. Growing Our Reach & Audience Engagement
Develop and manage our digital content to grow our audience and deepen engagement through our website, social media, and other publicity materials.Oversee digital campaigns and optimise our website and social media channels to increase awareness, web traffic, and support (donations, volunteering, services).Project-manage updates and development of new website features or modules to improve the user experience for donors, volunteers and service users.3. Managing Our Content & Assets
Own the end-to-end content journey : From strategy and user-focused writing to the design and vetting of publicity collaterals (e.g., annual reports, flyers, social media graphics).Manage the workflow with graphic designers or agencies, providing clear creative direction and ensuring final assets meet our standards.Maintain an up-to-date and easily accessible library of digital assets, including photos, videos, case studies, branded templates.Ensure all content—from the website and intranet to social media and print collateral—is timely, accurate, visually consistent and reflects our values.Project-manage the production of key materials, including our Annual Report and Fundraising Deck.4. Upholding Our Reputation & Guidelines
Review and update communication policies and guidelines to ensure they reflect our values and in line with regulatory requirements.Act as a guardian of our organisational identity, ensuring all materials are aligned with our mission and on-brand.Monitor public conversations relevant to our work and provide insights to the leadership team.5. Supporting Events & Initiatives
Provide end-to-end logistical and promotional support for organisation-wide events, from planning to execution, including occasional key awareness and fundraising activities outside standard work hours.Required Skills / Education / Work Experience :
A genuine passion for the social service sector and alignment with our mission.Proven experience (3 years) in a communications, digital engagement, or marketing role.An excellent storyteller with superb writing and editing skills, able to communicate with heart and clarity.Hands-on experience with social media management, website content management systems (e.g., WordPress), and email marketing tools.A proactive, resourceful, and collaborative team player with a "can-do" attitude.Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Experience with basic graphic design (Canva) and video editing is an advantage.Tell employers what skills you have
