We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Commis I (First
Cook) to join our dynamic culinary brigade. This is an entry-level
position designed for individuals at the beginning of their
culinary career who are eager to learn and grow within a
world-class kitchen environment. The successful candidate will
assist in the daily preparation of high-quality food, maintain
impeccable hygiene standards, and contribute to the smooth
operation of their assigned
section.
Key
Responsibilities
Food
Preparation & Quality :
Assist the Demi Chef and Chef de Partie in the daily mise
en place (preparation) for the assigned section.
Learn and execute basic cooking techniques, recipes, and
plating guidelines under close supervision.
Ensure all prepared items meet the hotel's stringent
standards for quality, taste, and presentation.
Handle ingredients with care, minimizing waste and
supporting the hotel's sustainability
initiatives.
Kitchen
Operations : Maintain a
clean, organized, and sanitized work station at all times, adhering
to all HACCP and food safety standards.
Properly store and label all food items according to
established procedures.
Assist in receiving
and checking the quality of deliveries.
Ensure
all equipment is handled correctly and kept in good
condition.
Support during service periods to
ensure timely and efficient delivery of
dishes.
Teamwork &
Development : Work
collaboratively and respectfully with all members of the kitchen
and service teams.
Demonstrate a positive
attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine eagerness to
learn.
Actively listen to and follow
instructions from senior chefs.
Take
initiative to improve your skills and knowledge of culinary
arts.
Qualifications
Experience
Education : A formal culinary
diploma / certificate from a recognized institution is highly
advantageous.
Experience : Previous
experience in a commercial kitchen (including internships or
apprenticeships) is preferred, but not mandatory. We are invested
in training the right candidate with a passion for food.
Knowledge : Basic
understanding of culinary fundamentals, cooking techniques, and
kitchen safety
procedures.
